Ok I'm Here So What's This All About

What’s all this Winging It a as Project Manager all about I hear you cry!

This first post is here to break down the concept, the philosophy, the approach—and most importantly, what’s in it for you. If you’ve ever managed a project by instinct, caffeine, and a thin layer of barely-contained chaos… you’re in the right place.

As for names in future posts—they’ve all been changed. Not to protect anyone’s privacy, but because frankly, I’ve forgotten most of them. After 25 years in the machine, faces blur, and let’s face it, some were forgettable to begin with.

So lets get stuck in.

Your role isn’t Project Manager. Or Engineer. Or HR Consultant. Or Finance Guy.

None of those.

Your real job? Corporate Player.

Yeah, I know—identity crisis incoming. But suck it up.

That fancy title on your email signature? It’s just cover. A costume. A convenient label to keep the org chart neat and your boss comfortable.

Me? I used Project Manager as my cover. It’s a damn good one—arguably the best. Why? Well, stick around. We’ll get to that.

These posts aren’t here to teach you how to run a project. They’re here to teach you how to survive the system. You’ll learn the real rules of being a Corporate Player—how to take what you want, keep your head down (when needed), and play your cover role like a pro. Mine was Project Manager. Yours might be something else. Doesn’t matter. But the focus will be using Project Manager as cover. Although what I’m about to teach you wont be part of your KPIs!

You’ll get stories—some real, some bent beyond recognition. Because in this game, truth is flexible and perception is power. Because in the end, what actually matters?

I’ll get to that too. Patience, rookie.

Entry 002 we will lay the foundation of some basic riles to be a Corporate Player – watch this space (or don’t, your life)
